Eligibility

The competition is open to students between the ages of 5 and 21. The Competition reserves the right to limit the number of contestants. Competitors will be divided into groups by age at the time of the competition.

Group 1: Age 5 to 6
Group 2: Age 7 to 8
Group 3: Age 9 to 10
Group 4: Age 11 to 12
Group 5: Age 13 to 15
Group 6: Age 16 to 18
Group 7: Age 19 to 21

Applications must be postmarked or received by September 1st 2012. Please send completed application and $60 non-refundable application fee to:

Competition Repertoire Requirements & Time Frames

Two contrasting compositions representing two different classifications: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Contemporary. Concerto movements are not allowed. All selections must be performed from memory. No transcriptions, arrangements, or simplifications will be permitted. Transcriptions and paraphrases that are recognized as part of the standard solo repertoire are acceptable. Please omit repeats.

Time Frames (Maximum Time)

Group 1: 5 Minutes
Group 2: 6 Minutes
Group 3: 8 Minutes
Group 4: 10 Minutes
Group 5: 12 Minutes
Group 6: 15 Minutes
Group 7: 18 Minutes

General Rules

1. Competition is closed to the public.
2. Contestants must submit to judges one published edition of each selection. No photocopies may be used.
3. Entrants will be identified to the judges by number only.
4. No repertoire changes are allowed after application is accepted.
5. In the interest of time, the judges may stop a performer without penalty.
6. The decision of the judges is final.
